Commercial Drainage Systems

Drain backing up or a new build needing proper drainage? Plumbers Ghana designs, installs and maintains foul and surface-water drainage across Accra — gullies, manholes, septic tanks and soakaways, with CCTV survey and high-pressure jetting. Engineered for Accra's clay soils, handed over in writing.

A commercial drain that backs up does not just smell — it closes a kitchen, a washroom block, or a whole floor. Plumbers Ghana designs, installs and maintains foul and surface-water drainage for offices, hotels, institutions and new builds across Accra, and has. Call +233 23 063 0005 — whether it is a backup right now or a new system to design, we will survey and quote before any work starts.

Drain Backing Up, or Building New? Start Here

Two things bring people to commercial drainage: a system that has started backing up, and a build that needs drainage designed properly the first time. For a backup, stop loading the system and call us — we camera the line to find the cause before clearing it, so it does not block again next month. For a new build, the time to get drainage right is before the slab goes down; falls, access points and a correctly sized soakaway cost far less now than dug up later. On Accra’s clay soils, the soil decides the system — undersized soakaways are the single most common reason drains fail here.

Drainage Systems We Design & Install

Foul Water Drainage

Drainage for toilets, kitchens, washrooms and wet areas — laid to the correct fall so it self-cleans, with gully traps, rodding access and manholes, discharging to a septic tank, soakaway or municipal sewer.

Surface Water Drainage

Roofs, yards, car parks and paved areas — channels, gullies and pipework sized to carry storm runoff away, kept separate from the foul system so heavy rain does not flood the toilets.

Gully Traps, Manholes & Access

Every commercial system needs access. We fit gully traps, rodding eyes and manholes at the right points so the drains can be inspected, rodded and jetted without digging — the difference between a 30-minute clean and a closed building.

Septic Tanks & Soakaways

Where there is no sewer, the foul system discharges to a septic tank and soakaway. On Accra clay we size the soakaway for the soil, not the catalogue — undersized soakaways are why tanks fill every few months. We build, repair and arrange emptying.

CCTV Survey & High-Pressure Jetting

We camera drains to see falls, blockages and condition, and clear grease, scale, silt and root intrusion with high-pressure water jetting — the same techniques that clear a domestic blocked drain, at commercial scale and on a planned schedule.

How We Design & Install a Drainage System

  1. Survey the site and the soil — locate existing runs (CCTV) or set out new ones; assess the ground.
  2. Design foul and surface water separately — correct falls, gullies, manholes, sized for the building.
  3. Install to falls, with access — self-cleaning gradient, rodding eyes, manholes, septic/soakaway where needed.
  4. Test, hand over and maintain — documented layout, written handover, planned CCTV and jetting.

Standards & Trust

What It Costs — Honestly

A full commercial drainage design-and-install is priced on survey: it depends on the building, the ground, and whether it discharges to a sewer, a septic tank or a soakaway, so no honest contractor quotes it blind. CCTV survey, jetting and planned maintenance are quoted from an on-site look before work starts — never a surprise after. The one published figure in this market is septic-tank emptying — indicatively GH₵400–800 by tank size (a separate tanker job). We never use the word “cheap”; we use “right-sized and quoted before we start.”

Frequently Asked Questions

My commercial drain keeps backing up — can you fix the cause? Yes. Recurring backups usually mean a downstream cause — grease, a partial collapse, wrong falls, or a full septic/soakaway (very common on Accra clay). We run a CCTV camera to find the cause, jet it clear, and tell you whether it is a cleaning job or a repair.

How much does it cost? A drainage design-and-install is priced on survey — it depends on the building, the ground, and where it discharges. Septic-tank emptying is indicatively GH₵400–800 by size. Everything else we quote from an on-site look before we start.

Why do soakaways fill up so fast in Accra? Clay soils drain slowly, so the soakaway cannot take the water and the tank fills — sometimes every six months. The fix is right-sizing the soakaway for the soil and separating surface water; we assess the ground rather than rebuild the same undersized system.

Do you maintain drainage for hotels and institutions? Yes — planned CCTV survey and high-pressure jetting clear grease and silt before a backup, with condition reporting. For a domestic blocked drain, see our drain unblocking service.
